Department of Civil Engineering

The department offers basic courses in Structural Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Transportation Engineering, Environment Engineering, S.O.M., Estimation and Costing etc. Apart from academic programmes, the department also undertakes testing and design consultancy services.

The department has highly qualified faculty of which four are having Ph.D.degrees. Department has the following well equipped laboratories.

  7. Environmental Engineering
  8. Concrete Testing
  9. Civil Engineering Models lab

Department is the nodal center for many world bank aided projects such as Karnataka Nirmala Grama Yojana, Integrated Rural water supply, environment sanitation projects and Engineering Staff College's Continuing Education Programme Courses for Govt. Engineers. Department is also planning to start a P.G. Course in Computer Aided Design of Substructures and Superstructures. The department is recognised as a research centre of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Kuvempu University for persuing research leading to Ph.D & M.Sc (Engineering) Degrees. So far One candidate has been awarded Ph.D and One candidate M.Sc (Engineering) Degrees and Eleven candidates are pursuing Ph.D.

The department has completed many AICTE financed MODROB and R&D projects under the supervision of Dr. A.V Pradeep Kumar, Prof & Head, Dr. M.N. Shesha Prakash, Professor and Sri. S. Rajendra, Asst. Professor.
Dr. H.B.Raghavendra, Professor is carrying out a R&D project entitled "Utilization of foundry sand in soil stabilization and cement concrete”.  

Department is conducting regular training programmes for placement of students in association with Builders Association of India.
