Jawaharlal Nehru New College of Engineering (JNNCE) has a rich legacy of providing quality education. It was established in the year 1980 by the National Education Society (NES), the institution was originally named Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering. Over the years, it has grown into a respected center for technical education.

Affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), JNNCE is also recognized by the Government of Karnataka. In 2019, following directives from regulatory bodies, the institution was renamed as Jawaharlal Nehru New College of Engineering (JNNCE).

JNNCE is a flagship institution of National Education Society (NES), an organization founded by visionary freedom fighters and philanthropists such as Sri H. S. Rudrappa, Sri S. V. Krishna Murthy Rao, Sri S. R. Nagappa Setty, and Sri D. S. Dinakar. Their commitment to education was later carried forward by leaders like Sri Girimaji N. Rajagopal and Sri D. R. Ratnakar. Over the past 75+ years, NES has expanded its reach, establishing 36 educational institutions across the Malnad region of Karnataka, fostering knowledge and shaping generations of students.

NES embraces institutions across various disciplines, including Engineering, Science, Pharmacy, Commerce, Humanities, Education, Law, Business Administration, Physical Education, Computer Applications, and Applied Sciences. The Society's commitment to expanding educational opportunities in rural areas is evident in its residential school at Konandur, which follows the ICSE syllabus and boasts modern infrastructure.

Continuing its efforts in educational development, NES has recently launched a Physical Education College, an Institute of Advanced Studies, and a CBSE High School with state-of-the-art facilities in Shivamogga. It features a well-equipped digital library, subscribes to 23 national journals, and provides access to e-journals through the VTU Consortium. Additionally, the library is a member of DELNET and NDL, ensuring a vast network of academic resources. To enhance efficiency, the library has been fully computerized using e-Lib software.
